Do you make all of your products yourselves?
Yes – all the ceramic dishes and bowls, and the table paintings are created by Peter Arscott and Stuart Houghton in our studios in Ledbury, Herefordshire
How are the belatrova ceramic products made?
We use very high quality materials – Valentine’s Royale Porcelain and a special grogged porcelain – together with a range of glazing techniques to produce the belatrova dishes. The porcelain is worked and rolled before being placed in a specially designed mould and then trimmed and finished to create the distinctive belatrova shaped dishes. Once a dish is completely dry it is placed in the kiln for a bisque firing up to 1000 degrees. It is then glazed and fired to 1280 degrees centigrade so that the clay is vitrified – which is a process of melting clays and glazes as they are fired to maturity.
The jugs and bowls are hand thrown on a potter’s wheel, biscuit fired, and then glazed
How user friendly are belatrova ceramics?
belatrova ceramics can be used in dishwashers and ovens
How are the belatrova table paintings achieved?
The Golden acrylic paint that is used on the belatrova tables is the best available to fine artists – and is used by some of the most distinguished contemporary painters in Britain. It is believed that acrylics will prove to be more durable than oils – and oils have been around for 500 years. The two coats of lacquer used to seal the painting are water-based and heat resistant. However, we do recommend the use of coasters or mats for hot drinks.
Can I rely on the photographs of your products to be a true representation of the colours?
While we have made every effort to represent the colours of our table paintings and ceramics accurately there could be some slight variations between the colours in the photographs as seen on your computer and the colours on the products. If you are not happy with your belatrova product when you receive it please contact us at email@example.com
